Alan Rodney Newton, Sr.

Mr. Alan R. Newton, Sr. was born May 7, 1946 in Harlem, New York. He is the son of Jean Newton Hubbard and the late Curtis Newton. He departed this life Sunday, January 31, 2021 at home following a brief illness.

Alan attended the public schools of New York. He graduated from Forest Hills High School, Queens, New York, Class of 1964. He was married to Martha L. Newton.

He enlisted in the United States Marine Corp following High School. He was a Vietnam Veteran serving 2 years overseas during his 4 years in the military after an honorable discharge. He worked for the New York City transit authority where he retired after 25 years as a track supervisor. Alan loved playing chess and shooting pool.

Mr. Alan R. Newton, Sr. leaves behind to cherish his precious memory: his devoted wife, Martha L. Newton; only son, Alan Rodney Newton, Jr., of Orangeburg, SC; his loving mother, Jean Newton Hubbard; a sister, Beatrice Murray, of Virginia Beach, VA; nephew, Frederic Murray; three nieces, Ernestine Murray, Jean Murray, and Joan Murray Hom; and a host of relatives and friends who will miss him in the days and years to come.
