David Whetstone, Jr. Obituary

Mr. David Jasper Whetstone was born on April 14, 1941, in Jamison, SC. He was the son of David Whetstone, Sr., and Harriett Whetstone.  He departed this life peacefully at this residence on Thursday, March 10, 2022.

David was educated in the public schools of Orangeburg County, SC. He was employed with Council Lumber Company for over 45 years until his retirement. Jasper was always known to be a very hard worker. In his free time, he would fish with his wife.  Often you could ride by his house and see him sitting on the porch talking to those who walked by.  He will forever be missed by his co-workers, community, and family.

On July 14, 1976, David and Dorothy entered holy matrimony.  David loved his wife dearly and always called her “Sweetheart.”

He was preceded in death by: his parents; son, David Whetstone; sisters, Georgiana Smith and Eartha Lee Teasley; and brothers, Alphonso C. Whetstone, Sr., and John Edward Whetstone.

Mr. David Whetstone is survived by: his devoted wife, Dorothy Haynes Whetstone; loving daughters, Theresa Duncan, Karen (Charles Brown) Whetstone, Janice (Chauncey Williams) Ice; supportive stepson, Robert (Barbara) Haynes; grandchildren, Eric Duncan, Jr., Derick Duncan, David Whetstone,  Melvin C. Whetstone, Craig Ice, Colby Ice, Chiquita Haynes, Chamir Haynes, and Rosalind Haynes; 12 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; one sister, Pauline Hemmingway; four brothers, Benjamin (Caretha) Sebring, Lucus (Hester) Whetstone, Simon (Shirlene) Whetstone, and William (Eva) Whetstone;  sisters-in-law, Alice Pelzer, Mozelle Davis Haynes,  Jannette Haynes Mays, Mary Whetstone; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
