Diane Benjamin Obituary

Ms. Diane Carson-Benjamin was born to the late Rosanne Gaines-Void in Bowman, SC on September 12, 1946.  She transitioned into eternal rest on March 20, 2022, after a brief illness.

Diane was educated in the public schools in Bowman, SC and graduated in 1963 from Bethune Memorial High School. After graduation, she matriculated to Washington, DC. She worked at Flagship Restaurant for many years. After taking a course to further enhance her working skills, she became employed on Capitol Hill at the Capitol Building for approximately 15 years, where she retired. While in Washington, DC. Diane became affiliated with the Enon Baptist Church, where she served as a member of the choir.

After many years of living in Washington, DC, Diane decided to return to Bowman, SC where she remained until her passing. She reconnected with the Antioch Baptist Church in Bowman, SC. She was the “protector” of the family, guarding, caring, and watching out for each as an eagle guarding her eaglets.

Diane was preceded in death by her stepfather, Mr. Willie Void, and her mother, Mrs. Rosanne Gaines Void.

Diane leaves to treasure loving memories: one son, Marcus Benjamin of the home; two granddaughters, Serenity Tipper and True Williams, two brothers, Kenneth (Earnestine) Gaines, of Washington, DC, and Ronald L. (Juanita) Gaines, of Baltimore, MD; five special cousins/sisters, Queenester Whitaker, Gwendolyn Wayne, Christine Moorer, Teresa Boyd, and Sallie Void Jones; two best friends, Lessie Gwaltney and Verna Mattox as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
