Dorothy Doris Swinton , affectionately known as Doris, was born on December 30. 1953. She was the daughter of Alice and Clay Swinton in Orangeburg, South Carolina.
Doris was educated at Claflin University, and her passion led her to always help others. After college, Doris worked as a Corrections Officer for five years before becoming a full-time Hospitality/Caregiver at Active Adult Facilities. Doris loved working at the facilities and interacting with the residents; she was a true workaholic.
Doris loved collecting beautiful figurines and decorating, she could make a great pot of beans no matter the type. Above all things she loved her sons: Jabbear and Shaquille!
Doris was preceded in death by: her parents, Alice and Clay Swinton; her sisters, Melissa Dixon and Idella McClennon; and her brothers, Ralph and John Wright.
Doris will be deeply missed and leaves fond memories to be cherished by: her children, Jabbear (Joslynn) & Shaquille Swinton; her grandchildren, Jamella, Sa’asia, Jamell, and Jaylena; her sister, Dorothy Ann Payne; and other special relatives and friends.
