Jacob Moorer Sr. Obituary

Mr. Jacob “Jake” Moorer, Sr., son of the late Charlie and Willie L. Disher Moorer, was born on December 28, 1948, in Orangeburg, South Carolina. He departed this life on Monday, January 17, 2022. 

Jake was educated in the public schools of Orangeburg County, SC. He attended Wilkinson High School. He enrolled in a culinary course at Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College. He was employed at various businesses in Orangeburg County, such as Utica Tools, Villa Madrid Restaurant, Holiday Inn, Antley Cafeteria, and Dukes BBQ. He even owned an establishment , Jake’s.

He joined Shiloh Baptist Church, where he was a devoted member who loved to sing, played  guitar, and shared testimonies of the Goodness of Jesus Christ. 

Jake enjoyed playing the guitar, cooking, carpentry work, and football. He was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan. In his spare time, he loved to cook and bake for his family and friends and was well known for his peach cobbler. He enjoyed helping others with carpentry and electrical work, and repairing automobiles. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Jake was preceded in death by: his parents, Charlie and Willie L. Disher Moorer; stepmother, Daisy Miller; his daughter, Cassandra Latoya Moorer, and his sisters, Loretha Moody, Barbara Disher , Annie Moorer, and Rose Moorer Felder. 

Jake will be deeply missed and leaves fond memories to be cherished by: his wife Linda Green Moorer; son, Jacob (Chandra) Moorer, Jr.; grandchildren, Camareon Zy’Rea Moorer, Serenity Evans, Shakiara Sharperson, Jasmine Chanae Moorer, Autumn Janae Moorer, and Caila Dachan Moorer, one great-grandchild,  Alaia Sade Mack; his sisters, Ruby D. Fedrick and Annette M. Blocker; his brother, Joseph (Francis) Moorer, of Holly Hill, SC; sisters-in-law, Emily Gardner, Elaine Green, and Diane Kippins; brother-in-law,  Willie Green; a host of nieces nephews, cousins, other relatives , and friends.
