Kenneth “Chicken” Jones was born on November 18, 1959. He was the son of the late Johnny Jones and Evangelist Dorothy Brunson Jones. He entered eternal rest on February 28, 2022, at the Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina.
He lived in St. Matthews, South Carolina where he attended school in Calhoun County. In his young adult days, Kenneth attended St. Matthews High School where he played football and was the class clown. He graduated in 1977 and after graduation, he joined the United States Army. Kenneth served three years in the military then proceeded to the work field where he had a plethora of jobs; two of which he loved the most were mowing lawns and painting. Kenneth loved his family and always enjoyed his special time with them. He loved to have fun and laugh, and he always enjoyed making others laugh as well. His love was extremely contagious.
Kenneth proceeded in death by his parents: Johnny and Evangelist Dorothy Jones; his brothers, David Clay Jones, Johnny Jones Jr., John Jones; his sister, Mary Footman; and a stepdaughter, Tameka Lonely.
He leaves to cherish his memories and life: his beloved wife, Mattie W. Jones; children of his wife, Cherie Loney, of Orangeburg South Carolina, and Howard Loney Jr., of Hanover Maryland; his sisters, Janell (Daniel) Oliver, of Orangeburg South Carolina, Jennifer (Henry) Adams, of Columbia South Carolina, and Patricia Johnson of Oceanside California; his brother, Deacon Gregory (Evangelist Mary) Jones, of Eutawville South Carolina; grandchildren, Rakieray Wilks, Shy Miller, Dymelle Davis, D’marhana Davis, all of Orangeburg South Carolina; a host of other grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Bennie Mae Jones, Rose Jones, Lavern Mayor, Beverly Mack, Sylvia Wannamaker, and Polly Ann Williams, all of Orangeburg South Carolina; one brother-in-law, Clarence Williams, of Orangeburg South Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, and family who will love and miss him dearly.
