Pamela Amaker Obituary

Pamela Joy Amaker, “Pam”, was born on July 24th, 1970, in Plainfield, NJ.  She was the daughter of the late Pastor William Amaker and the late Mrs. Lourine Murph Amaker. On the afternoon of Tuesday, March 1st, Pam gained her wings in Orangeburg, SC.

Pamela graduated from Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School in 1988.   After high school she enrolled at South Carolina State University. While at SC State, she was an avid member of the Gospel Choir, touring with the choir and performing locally. Pamela received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agribusiness, in May of 1995. Upon graduation, Pamela worked for the US Department of Agriculture, Rural Development Division and Resource Bancshares Mortgage Group (RBMG).

In 1992, Pamela gave birth to the joy of her life, William Amaker, II, also known as Billy.  This was her proudest accomplishment. She devoted her life to being his biggest cheerleader. She shared stories of Billy, with everyone and made sure everyone heard his new music and knew of his significant talent.

Pamela was an active member of the Wateree Church of God, where her father was the pastor. She loved teaching young children about the bible at church. This love for teaching would continue throughout her life as she later moved to Plainfield, NJ and became a daycare teacher. She often referred to the children as “her babies” and loved sharing “Ms. Pam” stories of the kids’ daily activities and laughs.

Pamela decided she wanted to add to her accomplishments and be a part of something larger so she joined the Rebecca Chapter #1, Order of the Eastern Star, Prince Hall Affiliated for the Jurisdiction of NJ in 2019.  She truly loved being a member, enjoyed the sisterhood and would volunteer to stand in for whatever was needed, even learning the part of the flagbearer in case that person could not attend.

Her unexpected departure leaves a void in the hearts of her family and friends. Pamela was preceded in death by: her parents, Pastor William Amaker and Mrs. Lourine Murph Amaker. Forever cherishing her memories are: her son, William Amaker, II, of Orangeburg, SC; her baby sister, Stacy Amaker, of Orangeburg, SC, who she committed to taking care of until her last breath; sisters Audry (Rev. Leroy) Williams and Evangelist Elaine (Rev. Geoffrey) Henderson, both of Orangeburg, SC; nephew, Eric M. Tyler;  and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.
